Calvary Fellowship Fountain Valley has launched a new ministry called Creation Station, which seeks to bring glory to God by e-nabling others to grab hold of their dreams.

The Need

The CDC estimates that, each year, approximately 1,500 babies in the United States alone, are born with upper limb reductions. The upper and lower limb reductions occur when a part of, or even the entire arm (upper limb) or leg (lower limb) of a fetus fails to form completely during pregnancy. This is referred to as a “limb reduction” because a limb is reduced from its normal size or is missing.

In addition, other forms or limb impairment may occur from an amputation, which is a surgical or traumatic separation of a limb or appendage from the body. It is estimated that one out of every two hundred individuals in the United States has had an amputation of some form. However, traumatic amputations are unplanned and result from some type of accidental injury. At least 30,000 traumatic amputations occur in the United States every year.

The Opportunity

For patients without health insurance, a prosthetic arm can cost $5,000 for a purely cosmetic arm, $10,000 for a functional prosthetic arm that ends with a split hook and up to $100,000 for a more advanced myoelectric arm, controlled by muscle movements with a functioning artificial hand.

This is where Creation Station comes in. From children to soldiers, pregnancy centers and international families, we can, together, give hope and help people in need. Working with and through the e-NABLE network, Creation Station uses 3D printer technology to create hands and arms for individuals who were born with missing fingers or have lost limbs from war, disease or natural disasters – at no cost to those in need.

The Goal

Annually, we anticipate constructing and distributing 15 prosthetic arms and hands to individuals around the world, and this is just the beginning.

Although there are equipment and operating costs, your contribution of just $276 can provide a unique and custom constructed prosthetic to a family in need. This will give us an opportunity to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ as doors are opened through our earnest care and support.
